Nicole Car Wins Hearts In Her Covent Garden Debut

….meantime at London’s Royal Opera in Covent Garden, Australian soprano Nicole Car has won hearts with her portrayal of  Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen.

Making her Covent Garden debut her performance has been described as “the evening’s most complete performance; her luminous soprano proves ideal for Bizet’s soaring lines and she acts with intelligence and immediacy.”

The Francesca Zambello production is conducted by Bertrand de Billy, Car shares the stage with Elena Maximova as Carmen, Bryan Hymel as Don José and Alexander Vinogradov as Escamillo.

Nicole Car returns to the stage at the Royal Opera in December to reprise her highly acclaimed role as Tatyana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin conducted by Semyon Bychkov, with the legendary Dmitri Hvorostovksy as Onegin, Michael Fabiano as Lensky and Ferruccio Furlanetto as Prince Gremin.
